Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from the airport to the Hotel

You begin your magical holiday as you board your flight to Rwanda, a country of a thousand hills. On arrival at Kigali International Airport, You will be picked by our professional safari guide upon your arrival, who will transfer you to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, you can do a city tour, in which you can visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre and the old city of Kigali. Overnight and dinner at your hotel.

Day 2: Kigali to Akagera National Park. Travel time +2 hrs

After the breakfast by 5am, we head to the impressive Akagera National Park, comprised of a blend of wetland, savannah grassland and woodland. The location of the park shows that it lies at a lower altitude as compared to the rest of the country, therefore meaning that it is not only warmer but drier. Some of the wildlife you will see here include: Giraffes, Buffaloes and Elephants as well as a profusion of birds. On reaching the park, we shall head for a full day game drive in search of these wildlife in the park, and if fortunate, we may be able to sight the Shoebill Stork, especially around the shores of the lakes.

Day 3: Boat trip and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

At 7:00 AM, embark on a captivating boat trip on Lake Ihema, where you’ll have the chance to observe crocodiles, hippos, and a variety of bird species in their natural habitat. Following this excursion, depart Akagera National Park and journey towards Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, enjoy the scenic winding roads and picturesque landscapes of Rwanda. Make a stopover in Kigali to savor a delightful lunch before continuing your journey north to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 4: Climbing the Volcano Bisoke.

Early in the morning, you will gather at the RDB Office for a briefing by the park ranger, preparing you for your hiking adventure. You will then begin your ascent of Mount Bisoke, a rewarding climb that leads to the summit, where you will marvel at the stunning Crater Lake nestled atop the volcano. After taking in the breathtaking views, you will descend and return to Musanze. The hike typically takes between 5 to 7 hours, depending on the pace and experience level of your group.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Village Visit

Have an early breakfast and then get briefed by the park officials about the rules of visiting the park. After, enter the jungle to search for the shy mountain gorillas and enjoy exploring their homes. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit in close proximity and visit with these great apes for a whole hour. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as hiking shoes, packed food and water, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a hut. The gorilla tracking experience takes half or a whole day, depending on the movement of these primates. After this gorilla trekking experience in Rwanda, you will have an incredibly memorable experience for life. After lunch, head to visit the Iby’iwacu cultural village for enjoying their different performances and also explore more about their unique culture. After, we head to the red rocks to see the banana beer production.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Trek and Transfer Back to Kigali for Departure

In the morning, after breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing on the code of conduct during the golden monkey trek. After the briefing, you will head into the jungle to track these shy primates. Unlike gorilla trekking, golden monkey treks are less physically demanding. Once you encounter the golden monkeys, you will have an opportunity to observe them in their natural habitat before hiking back to the starting point. Afterward, return to the lodge for a hot lunch. After lunch, transfer back to Kigali for the departure flight.
